DAVID BURNS
ARTIST Biography
Multi-instrumentalist David Burns is a veteran of the Southern California Celtic and Bluegrass music scenes.
Perhaps best known for his work with Disneyland’s acclaimed Celtic / Americana – and multiple award-winning group “Sligo Rags”, preeminent guitarist/singer/songwriter David Burns has been active in the LA music scene for over 25 years. Dave has been featured in Flatpicking Guitar magazine and has played guitar and banjo for countless popular bluegrass, Americana, and Celtic bands, such as acclaimed bands Heart of ‘Grass and Timbreline.
Dave began performing with The Storytellers as a sideman in 2018 before joining the band in 2019, manning the banjo station, as well as contributing vocals and mandolin.
“Playing with The Storytellers has been, for me, a joy that I never would have expected,” said Burns. “It has revealed a entire world of music and a culture that, for me, had always been in the background. It has inspired me to open myself up to a new and exciting musical subculture. It has also guided me into novel and challenging approaches to my instrument, the music being rich with new rhythms and chord structure. Every live show has been a delightfully good time. I might also mention that these are without exception some of the kindest people I’ve had an opportunity to work with.”
Dave has appeared on and contributed multiple compositions to all 5 studio albums that Sligo Rags has recorded, in addition to his own album “Soledad,” a collection of acoustic guitar solo pieces. His work can also be found on countless other recordings as a session musician.
