Praise for Anya Hinkle and Eden and Her Borderlands
Jonathan Frahm, PopMatters:
” … the album encompasses the singersongwriter’s talent for crafting earthen Ameriana roots in the Virginia mountains where she was raised. She takes on ‘Why Women Need Wine’ with pep in her step, reflecting on situations and dispositions that women often encounter. It’s a musical eye roll that takes on the patriarchy, accentuated by a playful polyphony of rotos instrumentations and Hinkle’s infectiously informal vocal delivery.” Henry Carrigan, Folk Alley:
“Anya Hinkle’s ‘Hills of Swannanoa’ captures the beauty and mystery of North Carolina .. she brilliantly captures the ways that beauty often carries within it the seeds of its own destruction, as well as the inarticulate sadness that such destruction brings.” ‘What’s It Gonna Take’ vibrates in
our souls, catches us in our spirits, and asks us how we can reconcile the mistreatment and abuse of groups of Americans with a rhetoric that preaches equality and justice for all.” About Anya Hinkle With vivid storytelling, vibrant musicianship and arresting honesty,
